I had a very nice weekend, and I hope you all did too. Today, I’m featuring the Very Versailles stamp set which I think looks a little bit vintage. About 15 years ago if not longer, Stampin’ Up! had stamps similar to this one, so its nice to see something like this back again. I really like the leaves and the writing in this set.
I stamped the elements on this card with Crumb Cake and Old Olive ink. However, before I stamped them, I stamped off so the colors wouldn’t be so dark. I had recently re-inked my crumb cake ink pad, and it looked a little too dark, so I got the look I was wanted by stamping off once before applying it to the cardstock, and I’m happy with it. I did the same with the old olive ink for the leaves. I also colored the scalloped lace trim with a sponge dauber with old olive ink, and I think coloring the lace makes a big difference on this card.
The greeting on the oval label and the sentiment inside were stamped with full strength old olive ink. I did, however, sponge around the edges of the greeting with my sponge dauber with old olive ink. Also, keep in mind, the Stamparatus is your friend when lining up stamps and will be a big help lining up the horizontal stamp for the top and bottom of the front and inside layers.
I used the Layering Oval Dies to cut out the greeting and the Stitched Shapes Dies to cut out the Soft Suede larger oval. The white oval label is adhered flat and the soft suede larger oval is adhered to the card with stampin’ dimensionals. I also added 3 gold metallic pearls to the label to make the card pop.
- Old Olive card base – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
- Soft Suede Layer – 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Whisper White Front Layer – 3 3/4″ x 5″…….. Inside Layer – 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Whisper White Scrap for Greeting
- Soft Suede for Stitched Oval – 1 3/4″ x 2 5/8″
- Scalloped Lace Ribbon – 5 1/2″
This is a clean & simple card that I really like. You can change out the greeting and make it a birthday, get well, just because, hello, thinking of you or even a sympathy card. This stamp set will make a beautiful card for any occasion.
