Today, I decided to play with the Free Skate stamp set and Detailed Skate Dies to make this pretty but simple Christmas card. I chose Whisper White Thick cardstock for my base and embossed it with my all time favorite Subtles 3D Embossing Folder. Because I wanted color and glitter, I chose the red Glimmer paper but before adhering it to the card base, I took the decorative skate from the Detailed Skate Dies and cut it out from the center of the red glimmer paper. The cut out in the center of the red glimmer paper is covered by the whisper white layer that I placed on top of it. I also cut the solid skate in whisper white from the same die set to act as a base for the red glimmer decorative skate. However, I cut off the white blade from the skate and adhered the white and red glimmer skates together with multipurpose liquid glue and did the same with silver blade to the red glimmer blade.
The sentiment from the Free Skate stamp set was stamped with the Silvery Shimmer Delicata Ink. I cut two labels… one in whisper white and the other with the silver foil. I cut off the edges of the white label so the label would match the width of the silver foil label and wanted the edges of the silver foil label to show. The die that I used for the labels is from the Beautiful Boughs die set which also has a coordinating stamp set called: Peaceful Boughs which I will use on another card.
When you use the thick whisper white cardstock, you can stamp directly on it and nothing will show through the back of the card. So with that said, I stamped the sentiment and the holly directly on the back panel with the Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink. I used the Stamparatus to stamp them because if by chance, I didn’t have enough ink on the stamp, I could go over it by adding more ink and the stamp would line up perfectly which is what I had to do. By using the Stamparatus, it prevented me from having to add another layer of paper to cover the mistake I would have made if I tried to line up the sentiment again on my own after re-inking, The berries with the Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker.
Note: If you don’t use or have the 100 lb. whisper white thick cardstock and use the regular 80 lb. whisper white cardstock, you will need to add another layer to stamp the sentiment and holly to prevent them from showing through the back of the card
- Whisper White Thick Cardstock for the Base – 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
